Bellaclan Border Collies was established in 1998, from humble beginnings which began in the competitive dog obedience ring with my first working bred Border Collie, 'Comet'. The kennel prefix (Bellaclan) originated from my late fathers Irish heritage and the love he instilled in me for the Border Collie. Bella (beautiful), and clan (family), together represents our line, a 'beautiful family' of Border Collies.
Bellaclan dogs have enjoyed much success in the show ring around the globe winning at the national specialty level, and with countless group wins and placements. I have had at least one top five Border Collie campaigned in Canada for the last 12 years in a row. Bellaclan dogs born here in Canada who were exported around the world have won and produced beautifully for other kennels and have provided them with a solid foundation, much like the dogs that have been shared with us over the years.
We recognize that quality is never an accident. Every Bellaclan breeding is very thoughtfully planned by researching pedigrees carefully, which tells us temperament, health, and the structural soundness of the many generations behind the parents of each litter. This ensures that the resulting Bellaclan pups have the traits that we are aiming to produce in our dogs, and in the future. Bellaclan dogs work as Therapy dogs, Service dogs, Search and Rescue dogs, Geese dogs, and Scent Detection dogs. However, their most important job is being a loved companion!
The Border Collies here at Bellaclan can trace their lineage to arguably many of the best Border Collies in the world, mainly from Australia, New Zealand, and the UK. I have travelled the globe to Border Collie National Specialty shows in the USA nearly yearly as well as to Australia, to shows which attract entries of 400+ Border Collie so that I might find the very best dogs to add to this line.
I am a member in good standing of the Border Collie Society of America (BCSA) in which I serve on the Futurity Committee and National Specialty Committee, and assist with fundraising. I am the 2021 National Trophy Chair, and am the Editor in Chief of the BCSA's magazine, "BORDERLINES", as well as run the BCSA Instagram @bordercolliesociety. I am a member of the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) where the Bellaclan prefix is reg'd. As of 2017, am honoured to be an American Kennel Club (AKC) Breeder of Merit.
I hope that you enjoy getting to know me and my Border Collies as you explore this website, and... I hope ewe "come bye" again soon!!
